Sleep for Maximum Cleansing Benefits!

Even if you do everything else right, not enough sleep can surely cause your health and well-being to suffer.  The way you feel while you're awake is closely linked to what happens while you're sleeping. During sleep, our bodies work hard to support healthy brain function and maintain and renew our physical health. Getting enough quality sleep can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.

Did you know that ongoing sleep deficiency can raise your risk for some chronic health problems and potentially add to a shortened life span?

Sleep is also known to affect how well we think, react, work, learn, and get along with others.

Sleep is important every day of our lives and especially during your cleanse. Enough sleep will enhance the results you are working towards...an overall healthier body!  It’s important to get plenty of sleep, rest and relaxation during your cleanse, as more toxins than usual are being processed and eliminated. You may feel somewhat crabby and fatigued during the detoxification process. You may find that you need more rest than you normally do. If you feel this way, please listen to your body and rest.

A good night’s sleep is fundamental to good health as your cells are repairing themselves more rapidly at nighttime. During sleep you are not active nor eating, which means your body can utilize more energy focused on gathering to remove unwanted toxins.

Your Brain cleanses itself during sleep:

Sleep Is Critical for Brain, in your body, the lymphatic system is the system responsible for eliminating cellular waste products. However, the lymphatic system does not include your brain. The reason for this is that your brain is a closed system, protected by the blood-brain barrier, which controls what can go through and what cannot.

Studies have shown that the brain actually has its own unique waste disposal system, similar to that of the lymphatic system. This system, is called the glymphatic system. Cleanse and Detoxify

Don’t expect your body to be active one minute and then asleep the next. Research shows that the body will accept sleep more readily if it is gently introduced. You can do this many ways, you will need to experiment to discover what works best for you.  This could include some or all of our suggestions.

Turn off the TV, computer, cell phone and I pad.  Studies show that the frequencies emitted from our electronic devices can interrupt our ability to get to sleep. We also want to stop stimulating the brain to allow it to slow down and sleep.

Some people can use reading as a means of slowing down for sleep, for others reading should be avoided.  If you read before bed and find that you are repeatedly awake later than you anticipated, consider not reading before bed, your books may be to stimulating for your brain.

Take a relaxing bath, it relaxes the body.  Add soothing music to allow the mind to relax also. Use this time to being the process of winding down in preparation for sleep.

Turn down the lights to create a dim environment. The body naturally begins to produce melatonin as darkness surrounds us. Before electricity our bodies were naturally put to sleep as the sun went down, now we can have bright light 24/7, this confuses the body and interrupts the natural sleep cycle.

Consider a bedtime routine. There are studies that show our bodies respond to routines. Children are great examples of this, many times their bedtime routines include a relaxing bath, followed by a bedtime story, etc.  We usually use these routines every night for children, because the routine works! We as adults can learn from children and try it for ourselves. Make an enjoyable routine that you can commit to every night.
